Colors of festivals

Ninh Binh is home for many folk festivals. Beside the spiritual significance, the festivals are also chances to preserve the national cultural identity. Currently, the province has 74 festivals. Some festivals have become tradition not only of local people but also of the whole province and attracted the attention of domestic and international tourists.

Truong Yen Festival (8th to 10th of the third lunar month)

The biggest festival that attracts many tourists is The traditional festival of Hoa Lu ancient capital, also known as Truong Yen festival, a provincial festival of Ninh Binh. People coming to this festival not only for the purpose of offering incense to remind King Dinh Tien Hoang but also for enjoying the atmosphere of Truong Yen festival with lots of folk games and activities bearing local identity.

Thai Vi Festival (14th to 16th of the third lunar month)

Festival of Thai Vi Temple (Van Lam village, Ninh Hai, Hoa Lu) is open to be reminiscent of King Tran Thanh Tong, Tran Thai Tong and Tran Nhan Tong, especially King Tran Thai Tong. The sacrifice ceremony was held on the front yard of Thai Vi Temple with many formalities and forms of worship in this respect. The procession part and festival part seem to be more attractive with tourists, containing entertainment activities and folk folk games such as dragon dance, lion dance, chess, boat racing or wrestling.

Bai Dinh Pagoda (from 6th to the end of the third lunar month)

Bai Dinh Pagoda Festival is a great festival in Ninh Binh that takes place every year. The festival is held at Bai Dinh Pagoda, located in Sinh Duoc Village, Gia Sinh commune, Gia Vien district. Many visitors have formed the habit of participating in Bai Dinh Pagoda Festival on the starting day. In the enthusiastic atmosphere, many visitors from everywhere coming to the festival for sightseeing, worshiping, feeling the budding and sprouting of everything, the peace and happiness as a good start for the whole year.
